Seduce-Proofing Our Lives

This is part one of learning how to seduce proof our lives. The following are excerpts from Beth Moore’s: “When Godly People do Ungodly Things.” The devil is on the prowl for his next victim. Don’t let him get to you! Put on the following guards.
May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The One who calls you is faithful and He will do it.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
God has not left us ill-equipped to stand victoriously while surrounded by ever-increasing wickedness. The Word of God gives us the strategy we need to seduce proof our lives. If we as Christians can set the following safe-guards in our lives then we can stand against Satan’s schemes. It is dangerous when we let our guard down. We can’t turn our back on the enemy. If you look in Ephesians 5 where it talks about the armor, you’ll notice there is no armor for the back.
Time after time the Bible warns us to “Be on your guard…” Paul said, “I am fearful, lest that even as the serpent beguiled Eve by his cunning, so your minds may be corrupted and seduced from wholehearted and sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” – 2 Corinthians 11:3 Even Paul was worried that the believers, WHOLE HEARTED, SINCERE and PURELY DEVOTED would be seduced!
Here are some simple steps to seduce proofing your life:
1. Be happy in your faith.
1 Thessalonians 5:16. “Rejoice always!”
You have complete biblical permission to be happy in your faith and also to do the unthinkable –be bold enough to ask why if you’re not!
2. Abstain from evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Stay away from every form of evil”
Certainly many other things can add happiness to our lives, but they are detoxified and made safe to believers when their primary source of happiness is faith in Jesus. Without happiness in Christ, any other source of joy can become a tool for seduction.
3. Be unceasing in prayer
1 Thessalonians 5:17. “Pray without ceasing.”
Constant communication. Sometimes saying a lot, sometimes saying a little, but living every moment of life as if He were right there. After all, He is, isn’t He?
4. He/She is thankful and gives thanks.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in everything”
An unsatisfied soul should never be ignored.
5. He/She doesn’t quench the Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:19. “Don’t stifle the Spirit.”
We are absolutely incapable of consistent victory on our own. God created us for the fire of the Holy Spirit! If we quench His fire, we’ll look for another one elsewhere. God’s fire isn’t destructive. He doesn’t feed off of us. He is the I Am, the self- existent One.
Stay tuned for more practical, applicable advice for seduce proofing our lives by looking at 1 Thessalonians 5. Why would we want to live unarmed, and naive to the evil that constantly tries to invade and ultimately seeks to destroy our lives?
Put up your dukes.
