Hey Everyone,

I’m not even sure which update this is.  Sorry for the delay, but we
have been running like crazy.  On Sunday we went to the Salvation Army
and did some skits for the homeless.  Our skits really did a great job
of explaining how sin holds us in bondage.  Devin opened the time in
prayer, Anna read a small Bible passage to the homeless, and all of us
were in the skits.  Afterward, I got the opportunity to share my
testimony with the crowd while an interpreter translated.  We heard
some amazing stories.  We spoke with a guy who was covered in stab
wounds. I had the opportunity to speak with and pray with a man who
has been clean from crystal meth and living for the Lord for several
months.  He lost his job, money, and marriage years ago because of
this addiction, but God has been working to reconcile those
relationships and give him peace about his situation.

Hey Everyone,

We have just experienced our first full day in Costa Rica.  We arrived
at the base late last night (around 11:00 PM).  The time change was a
bit strange.  They do not have day light savings time in Costa Rica.
For some reason we are a half hour behind the East Coast.  It’s a bit
different.

Hey Everyone,

They say in missions you need to expect the unexpected. When we were
20 minutes outside of Dulles Airport, we found out our flight was
canceled. We won’t be leaving Virginia until 12:10 PM tomorrow
(Friday the 18th).

In Matthew 5:37 Christ urged His followers towards honesty.  “Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”  Why is it that we have forgotten that?

From what I hear, a handshake was all you needed to seal a deal back in my grandparents’ day.  But apparently the early Christian’s didn’t have this same example of honesty to live up to.  In fact a smarter guy whose blog I read before typing this one said, “The Pharisees interpreted” the Old Testament Law “to mean that ONLY when you made an oath did you have to tell the truth, and even then, it only had to be a certain kind of oath. That is not at all what God meant.”

Where is it that we started to cross our fingers behind our backs?  Why do we need to have countless pages of agreements, contracts, and legal documents to get each other to stick to our word?

My boss bought us a grill for our wedding.  We’re celebrating our second anniversary on the 17th, so I felt it was time to put it to some use.  Three days ago I went into our basement and pulled everything out that I needed. After washing a spider web and its eight-legged inhabitant off the grill and down our shower drain, I went outside and began my adventure.

Here we have the final post of a four part purity series.  Over the past few weeks we have discussed ways to help teens out with purity.  The last three posts have offered us some practical ideas on working with students in this touchy area.  I’d like to end the series by asking youth leaders and parents to do something very hard.

Last week we continued four part series on purity. It’s something that every kid (and adult) needs to hear. I gave just one piece of advice last week. When you see someone and you know they are attractive BOUNCE YOUR EYES away from them.

Over the next four weeks we are going to discuss four steps towards purity for you to discuss with your teens.  God has placed on my heart a huge desire to share with teens about purity.  It seems to be the biggest struggle they have  This week, lets talk about the gateway to impure thoughts … the eyeballs!  This week is going to be very simple.  It’s going to focus on one action we can take to keep our eyes focused where they belong.

As another dynamic year comes to a close we want to write to you with very thankful hearts.  Knowing people are reading our letters and remaining engaged in our lives is such a blessing.  We also want to give God the praise He deserves for those that support us financially and prayerfully.  Without these gifts of prayers and finances, it would be impossible for us to carry on our work for the Lord.  This is why we come to you this month with an urgent request.  December tends to be a very slow financial month for Brittany and me at Teen Quest.  Churches are busy preparing for Christmas and our supporters have so many things going on in their own lives.  For this reason we need to prepare for a very lean financial month.  We are asking that those people who have given in the past and that those people who have never given would consider submitting a year end gift to our support account.  We know that without these gifts, this month will be difficult, but we are already praising God for the support He will send our way.
